2022 is right around the corner, and the WWE has released its events calendar. There’ll be fewer pay-per-view events, but the roster is loaded with stars and big matches.
WWE has come a long way, and right now, John Cena and the Rock are both in theaters with major movie releases. The talent in the WWE has never been better.
Raw and Smackdown both have a lot of exciting possibilities for 2022. Here are five of the biggest.
Riddle vs. Goldberg
Goldberg only has one match left on his contract, so it’s going to be a big one. Regardless of whether he’s re-signed, the retirement and re-signing angles are easy to win storylines. Fans love seeing their favorites one last time.
The best angle is to put him up against new talent. He could be either the heel or the face, with interesting storylines each way.
Riddle is poised to break out as a major star, and putting him into a matchup with a retiree would be a predictable way to give him a push.
Goldberg playing the heel would be cathartic. Everyone can relate to wanting to trash the office on the way out.
AJ Styles vs. Edge
AJ Styles and the Edge are two of the biggest stars in the WWE. This has been teased for a long time, and it’s time that fans get what they want.
The two wrestled in the Royal Rumble, but now they need a new storyline. They’re both capable of face or heel roles, so the storylines could be interesting with lots of twists and turns.
We’d love to see these two battle it out for a belt. It would be a well-deserved reward for either of these men.

With so much interest in both groups, they’re already set up for big storylines. And if there’s one thing the WWE loves, it’s to put top stars in the ring.
This event should’ve already happened. The fact that it hasn’t yet just means that WWE has been building something special.

Kevin Owens and Finn Balor have always worked well together. They’re good friends in real life, which makes their matchups fun.
Both men have incredible ring skills, which always helps. This would be a fresh storyline and lots of fun for everyone.
Roman Reigns vs. The Rock
The Rock has been on top for more than 20 years, and he just keeps getting better. The Rock is a megastar now, and the WWE has to give him prime billing when he can get into the ring.
